Bainbridge International Transport Corp. was started in 1991 by Marilyn Sargent as a one-woman, international freight forwarding business located on Bainbridge Island, Washington. 

At the time, Bainbridge International was one of the few woman-owned businesses handling international military household goods shipments. The company grew quickly from its beginnings in Marilyn's home, and more employees were added to handle the volume of the expanding business.  

In 2012, Bainbridge International was sold to Sara Stern, the present owner, and continues to operate in both the domestic and international freight forwarding and household goods moving business industries.
